An article at ‘Next Big Future’ focuses on North Dakota’s booming oil industry.  Although ND has been ranked seventh for the past few years for the number of oil rigs, it had the second biggest increase over the past year.

The state is producing 156,356 barrels of oil per day and may reach 200,000 barrels per day by the end of the year, according to the article.  Much of North Dakota’s oil success is due to the recent activity in the Bakken oil shale area.
