Over the weekend, the COO of North Dakota’s State Bank & Trust announced that it will give $1,000 to each of their full-time employees and $500 to each part-time employee as part of its initiative to influence change in their community. The cash can only be used for people in need and each employee must document the good deed with a video camera. The bank has over 500 employees who may choose an individual cause, pool their money for a bigger project, or collaborate with donors outside the bank. Each employee has until June 30 to perform a charitable act.
This is what I love about North Dakota. Not only will it the money help a lot of people in the state, but it will be a great promotion for the bank, as well. It’s a great mix of economic development and real-life charity that means something for both the givers and the receivers.
